Mrs. Molly Depaiva’s AP World History class at Sacred Heart High School studied a Revolutionary Series. The class enjoyed coffee and sugary snacks while studying the Haitian Revolution. Coffee and sugar were two main exports that Haiti needed slave labor to produce, which eventually led to slaves rising up under Toussaint L’Ouverture.
Next the class participated in a “Tea Party” where they enjoyed “firecake” while learning about the American Revolution. Students learned about the various foods that American Colonists ate to survive the Revolution, one being this flavorless flour cake. Students created annotated timelines to show cause and effect of the Revolution.
Shown in photo during a re-enactment in class are the AP World History women yelling, “we want bread” as they enjoyed French bread while learning about the protests and revolts leading up to the French Revolution!
